<aside> Welcome to “PLANiT-ed.” Our mission is to empower future modelers and data analysts in the civil society landscape, driving efforts toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Our program runs from April 2025 to November 2025, offering three terms that cover:
Foundations of Modelling and Data Analysis: Hands-on practice with global carbon budget allocation models using Python
Power and Energy System Modeling with Python: A Beginner’s Guide for Long-Term Capacity Expansion Planning
Solving Real-World Energy Challenges with GIS: Lessons from Case Studies

This workshop series provides hands-on, practical experience in modeling energy, climate, and power systems. Through a "Learning by Doing" approach, participants actively engage in real-world problem-solving, building models, and analyzing data. The workshops follow a progressive learning structure, starting with fundamentals and gradually advancing to more complex analyses, fostering both individual skill development and collaborative learning.
Participants gain practical experience by directly engaging in problem-solving, data analysis, and model building.
Each workshop addresses current challenges in energy and climate, providing immediately applicable skills for research, policy, and industry.
Working in groups fosters teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and problem-solving, mirroring real-world project environments. By the end of this series, participants will have gained essential Python skills while developing a functional carbon budget analysis model applicable to climate policy and energy systems. 🚀
